Exploring the hidden wisdom of the scriptures

Called to Be Ministers of God?

Matthew 28:19-20
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

The past few days, I’ve been reflecting on this passage and how relevant it is in my life right now. Going out in the world, making disciples and spreading the name of God to all those who have ears and are willing to listen. It’s such a big task that we believers have been given and yes, I’m fully aware that this verse was originally directed at the disciples of Jesus Christ but obviously we all were meant to carry on the task.

2 Corinthians 5:20
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf:

According to this verse, we are ambassadors of the Kingdom of God here on earth. An ambassador is an official representative sent by a higher authority (such as a king or government) to represent their interests in a foreign land. Their job includes:

  1. Representing their leader: representing Jesus here on earth.
  2. Communicating messages: sharing the gospel to those who don’t know Him.
  3. Building relationships: showing love to both believers and unbelievers just like Christ commanded us.
  4. Upholding their nation’s interests: promoting and defending the values, commandments, and priorities of Jesus Christ.

Not everyone is called to be an evangelist or a pastor, but we are all called to be ministers; serving God with our gifts and talents, interceding for one another, and uplifting our brothers and sisters in Christ. Even as a new believer, there are many ways to serve and contribute to God’s kingdom.

God did not create anyone without purpose. Each of us (young or old) has something unique to offer and when we fail to play our part, it can even impact someone else’s salvation.

You don’t need a title, a pulpit, or a church building to share the Word. It can start with simple acts; sharing a meaningful scripture or quote, posting faith-filled content instead of the empty jokes we constantly share with our friends on social media, or mentoring someone in their walk with Christ.

Too many of us act as ambassadors only within the church walls, but the moment we step outside, we blend in with the world, forgetting our true identity. But think about this: How can you expect to be rewarded as an ambassador if you only do your job halfway and only inside the office? The real work of an ambassador happens outside the office!

Study the Word. Discover your gifts. Know your purpose.
Build a real, active relationship with God and then act on it!

Many of us have been hearing messages and receiving spiritual nourishment our whole lives but what have we done with it? Where is the fruit from the seeds that have been planted in us? And more importantly, when do we plan to start planting our own seeds? How long do you plan to be a bench warmer and spectator?

Not only are we expanding His kingdom but we’re also refining ourselves. It’s a way to keep learning, keep growing and discovering our endless potentials. Don’t allow your gifts to waste away in you. Do something that will not only uplift others but also help you grow in Christ.

Time is running out and before we know it, Christ will return. Let’s take our calling seriously so we don’t miss out on the rewards or worse, miss the bus back to our Father’s Kingdom.

Stay Blessed x
