Exploring the hidden wisdom of the scriptures

Love: A Kind and Compassionate Jesus

February is here again, painting the world in shades of red and white, with heart-shaped everything all around. But what better way to embrace this season of love than by soaking ourselves in the pure, unfiltered love of God—one that never fails, never abuses, never cheats, and never disregards the other.

This month I’ll be reflecting on some scriptures that show God’s love for us.

Jesus was teaching when the Pharisees interrupted Him. They brought forth a woman who was caught in the act of adultery and wanted her to be punished according to the law (side note: why wasn’t the man also humiliated and brought forth for punishment???)

  • Since they were eager to punish her, Jesus told them they could go ahead if they were also blameless.
  • After they shamelessly ran away, Jesus sent the woman away without condemning her.

John 8:7 says ‘Let anyone who is without sin cast the first stone’.
Jesus never said she shouldn’t be punished according to the law. All He did was remind them that none of them were without sin. They were so eager to stone her to death, forgetting that they themselves have disobeyed some of the laws of Moses.

If God, who is blameless and without sin didn’t condemn her (or us in our sinful nature), why are we so eager to condemn one another?

John 8:11
Jesus sent her away but clearly told her ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.’
Till today, He still shows us this same mercy. He forgives us whenever we sin, even after sacrificing Himself on the cross for our sins. All He expects in return is that we LEAVE our sinful life.

We tend to forget this part of forgiveness. Just because we’re forgiven doesn’t mean we should go back to doing the same things (Proverbs 26:11).

If you have the privilege and opportunity to receive divine forgiveness, take it—don’t waste it. God is always kind and compassionate to His children, but His love should never be taken for granted. Embrace His grace, turn your life around for the better, and avoid eternal separation from Him.

Stay Blessed x
