Exploring the hidden wisdom of the scriptures

What Will I Offer God This Year?

We are five days into the new year! Congratulations to all of us who made it this far. Just five days in, and the news has already been filled with some unfortunate reports, but we thank God for life and for His protection over us.

I’m sure many of us attended a beautiful crossover service where we prayed and prophesied a lot into this year:

Our year of greatness
Our year of prosperity
Our year of promotion

But how many of us prophesied that this would be our year of service? A year where we surrender ourselves completely and follow God with every fiber of our being?

We are so used to asking in the body of Christ (Matthew 7:7), but this year I made a conscious decision to be intentional. Whenever I catch myself falling into the rhythm of asking God for yet another thing to add to my list of wants, I quickly turn it into: “Lord, this is what I would love to have, but let Your will be done.” Then I move into placing everything in His hands and asking for the strength to serve Him in ways I wasn’t able to in the past.

This is not because I am better than anyone else or more spiritual. For me personally, it is a way to avoid going to my Father only for the things I want. Some already do this subconsciously, but many of us still easily fall into the trap of requests instead of surrender.

Most of us have already prayed for what we want this year, but how many of us have a list of what we want to do for God this year, and how many of us have brought that before Him?

Let us not forget that there is a reason we exist and have been placed here on earth. Each of us has a purpose that must be fulfilled. There is a time for everything, but as Scripture reminds us:
“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).

We already know that the plans He has for us are far better than anything we could ever try to forcefully achieve. As His Word says:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Yet we often forget that not everything of value is meant to be gained here on earth. Jesus reminds us:
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven… For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19–21)

So why do we still get so caught up and bothered?
It’s human, yes……but still ironic. The things we are supposed to put our energy into often seem the hardest.

Before this first week is over, I’d like us to reflect on what we can do for the Kingdom of God and much less on what we want God to do for us again.

List your gifts, talents, interests, strengths, and even your weaknesses, and see how you can be an active member of the body of Christ.

Enough with baby Christianity!! Even babies grow and learn to do things on their own.

How long will we keep hopping from one miracle service to another, or binge-watching prophecy livestreams?

Let us become the very prophets we want to see in the Kingdom of God. Let us make our Heavenly Father proud.

Let 2026 be a year of self-development, growth, strength, and pride for the Kingdom of God.

And at the end of the year, may our testimonies not only be a list of what God did for us, but also of what we did for His Kingdom. How we made Him proud and how we proved to be good and faithful servants.

Once again a happy new year to you all !!!!

Stay Blessed x
